About

As a child, my front yard stretched up a small hill and into large, mysterious woods. I grew up surrounded by trees and have always felt most at home in places that are full of them. Maple trees are among my favorites.

I originally wrote mostly about frugal living under the name “Fabulous Frugality,” but over the years I’ve realized there’s other directions I’d like to go in with this site, sharing things related to my art, music, fiction, life, style, and many more things that don’t fit in the “frugal living” category. Hence, “Olive + Maple,” a plant-based lifestyle blog. Here you’ll find plant-based simple living tips, faith-based encouragement, and some fun fashion things, too!

Like olives, sometimes the things shared here will have a bold flavor. But like maple syrup, there will be sweet things as well– a balance between the two.

Me with my “favorite tree” as a child.

When you see something faith-based on Olive + Maple, it comes from these beliefs:

  • The Bible is God’s Word, inspired by Him, and the definitive source of Truth for our lives.
  • Jesus is God’s Son, fully God and fully Man, coequal with God the Father and the Holy Spirit as part of the Trinity. Jesus came to earth for our salvation.
  • As sinful people, we need a Savior. Jesus is the only One who can save us from the penalty of our sins (hell). Jesus died on a cross to pay for our sins and was resurrected after three days.
  • Our salvation is by God’s grace through faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection for our sins. It is not based on our own goodness or efforts.

  1. Hi there– I’m frugal at heart too. So it’s fun to find your blog!! My daughter and I were just talking today about Target– how they have the genius blend of items you need– bananas & toilet paper– surrounded by not too expensive things you just want– pillows & new clothes. That’s why people love that store! Anyway, fun to read along…
