Olive + Maple seeks to encourage women in living intentional and confident lives by faith.

On this site, you’ll see devotionals + articles addressing self-worth, self-esteem, joy, intentional living, culture, & relationships all through the lens of the Christian faith.

A little about me:

I have overcome a dysfunctional home life + years of emotional abuse through God’s grace, His Truth, and specific strategies. I am passionate about sharing Truth with other women because it truly is the Truth that sets us free from the lies we’ve believed, the hurts inflicted on us by others, and any shame/guilt of the past. Perhaps you were like me and didn’t hear the Truths you needed growing up– may you find Truth here in these pages and may it make you a little more confident + whole in your journey towards healing.

Why “Olive + Maple”?

As a child, my front yard stretched up a small hill and into large, mysterious woods. I grew up surrounded by trees and have always felt most at home in places that are full of them. Maple trees are among my favorites.

Maple trees are thought to represent strength and endurance, while olive branches are known to symbolize peace and victory. My goal is that all these qualities would be represented here– that this site would be a place of peace, and that you would be strengthened to endure and have victory through Jesus by reading the words shared here.

Me with my “favorite tree” as a child.

When you see something faith-based on Olive + Maple, it comes from these beliefs:

  • The Bible is God’s Word, inspired by Him, and the definitive source of Truth for our lives.
  • Jesus is God’s Son, fully God and fully Man, coequal with God the Father and the Holy Spirit as part of the Trinity. Jesus came to earth for our salvation.
  • As sinful people, we need a Savior. Jesus is the only One who can save us from the penalty of our sins (hell). Jesus died on a cross to pay for our sins and was resurrected after three days.
  • Our salvation is by God’s grace through faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection for our sins. It is not based on our own goodness or efforts.

  1. Hi there– I’m frugal at heart too. So it’s fun to find your blog!! My daughter and I were just talking today about Target– how they have the genius blend of items you need– bananas & toilet paper– surrounded by not too expensive things you just want– pillows & new clothes. That’s why people love that store! Anyway, fun to read along…
