1. Farmer’s Markets:
Wandering around your local farmer’s market is a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon (free samples!), and the produce offered is often cheaper (and fresher) than that found in grocery stores. It’s not always locally grown, so ask if that’s important to you.
Look up their free/discounted admission days- it’s a great way to stay out of the heat and learn something at the same time!
3. Your local swimming pool:
These are often free if run by the county instead of a private organization.
4. State Parks:
Day rates and overnight camping rates vary by state and park, but in my state the camping rates range from $16-$42 a night.
5. Beaches and Lakes:
Pack a picnic lunch/games and bring some friends for a fun mini getaway!
